本種は本州のタブから記載された。本州から琉球列島に広く分布し、タブやクスノキなどのクスノキ科の新葉から得られる。全体的に灰黄色で、単眼三角区、前胸背板側部、腹部背板側部に曇った斑紋を持ち、単眼間刺毛が後方単眼の間から生じる。後胸腹板叉状器の小棘は先端で両側へ大きく反転するのが特徴的。

This species was described from Machilus thunbergii in Honshu, Japan. It is widely distributed from Honshu to the Ryukyu Islands, and is collected from the young leaves of Lauraceae such as Machilus thunbergii and Cinnamomum camphora. It is greyish yellow species, with brown markings within ocellar triangle, on the lateral portions of pronotum and abdominal tergites. The oceller setae pair III (=interocellar setae) are situated between hind ocelli. In peculiar, the metasternal spinula recurved to both sides at apex.
